In the Studio: Stefani

I do a time-share of sorts with a local studio, and while natural light in an outdoor environment is still my fav – I’ve had a lot of fun learning to work in the little studio. Stefani came over to be my model while I practiced studio lighting.

The third lovely lady that Julie & I worked with was Katia! Katia has huge eyes and a bubbly attitude. Unfortunately she had to sprint to work (still in hair and makeup) so we didn’t get to do the crazy fashion look, but I’m so glad she came!

Joy was another fun gal that showed up to Julie’s portfolio day! Joy is sweet, and extremely helpful when you want to use a neighbor’s beautiful barn, but aren’t sure how to ask in Spanish!

This next one (looking sideways) reminds me of a book I read as a child, called “Misty Morgan.” I think only my sister would know what I’m talking about, though!

Several weeks back my friend Julie and I put together a WHOLE fun filled day of make up and dress up and girliness. Julie is currently in school to be a fabulous make up and hair artist, and we thought it would be fun to give her portfolio a jump start!! She invited her friends Lisa, Joy, and Katia to come over and we spent all day having fun. Instead of one incredibly long blog post, I thought I’d make one for each girl.

Lisa is gorgeous with incredible long red hair. We got a chance to chat just this week, and wow, this girl has a love for travel! Of course, I’m impressed with anyone who can speak another language.

Ahhh, winter. Your rain won’t stop me!! Thankfully these lovely ladies decided to brave the cold and drizzle for come out for some beautiful portraits. Aren’t they both just gorgeous!? A friend of mine has been thinking about getting into photography…and as much as I can talk about it all day long it’s SO much more fun to go out and shoot!! So we scheduled a little play date and had a blast photographing and chatting and hanging out! We couldn’t have asked for two better models:

Leslie on Bourbon Street

So one of the really fun activities of the New Orleans trip was a funky night bridal shoot! We split into groups, and I was delighted to be in the group with Leslie as our model! Leslie’s not a real model….she could be…but she’s actually in law school. She was married a couple years back, and donned the dress for us for some really fun images!

She was such a great sport, I know it’s not easy when there is a full set of paparazzi following you around! A bleach-blonde wearing a pink barbie dress and a “Miss Planet Beach” sash walked by, and I overheard one of her friends say “They should photograph you!”. But no one even turned around! We were much too glued to Leslie! Part way through the session, a fire truck came (not for fire, for a medical emergency) and for about 90 seconds we had Leslie stand in front of it. Then we got out of the way!

This was a great learning experience for me and I think I’m going to ask for some fun lighting for Christmas. (Even though most were just taken with available light, there were a couple where a small video light took the image in a whole new direction!)
